The research projects associated with BMBF’s research funding on urban transformation and the future analyse municipalities’ starting positions, formulate objectives for individual areas of activity, and highlight specific design opportunities as they head towards the City of the Future. Their priorities, procedures, methodologies and local conditions differ.
However, what all these research projects do have in common is the goal of developing and adopting innovative approaches for cities. Experimental research and living labs are characteristic of this kind of transformative approach. There are various overlaps and potential synergies between the research projects and SynVer*Z’s primary role is to promote networking and the sharing of experience between them. SynVer*Z uses all kinds of event formats to do this, including the workshop series Fokus*Z and Quer*Z for networking on focus topics and cross-cutting issues.
